Walking tours are back! I offer several in London. Three outdoor walks I mention on the home page: The Shakespeare Tour of the Tudor and Jacobean city, The Waste Land Tour of TS Eliot's London and The Iron Lady Tour of Margaret Thatcher's Chelsea. Alongside those are two indoor tours of St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.

In addition I can take you round the City Churches which have just re-opened after months of lockdown closure. This includes a number of those built by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London. This was boom city in the eighteenth century and soon to be the most modern metropolis in the world.

The Austrian composer Joseph Haydn came to London in the 1790s and stayed four years. He wrote his 12 London symphonies and this outdoor walk tells the story of The Clock, The Drumroll, The Surprise and The Military in appropriate locations. It will incorporate the Changing of the Guard ceremony as soon as it is running again.

I also offer two medical walking tours. The first is All Around the University: Firsts and Inventions in the History of Medicine. It celebrates the achievements of the National Health Service (NHS) and the part played by the University in the pandemic, researching and testing the AstraZenica vaccine. It explores the streets around University College London which has won 29 Nobel prizes, six of them in medicine.

The Quack Doctor Tour accompanies the alchemist Lionel Lockyer on his rounds through the City of London and uncovers the life story of the inventor of the Sunlight Pill who made a fortune at the time of the Great Plague of London in 1665. Any connection with the current situation is entirely deliberate.

My virtual tours are conducted with a blank verse narrative and last about 50 minutes. The Moonploy Tour makes a circuit of the Monopoly board using dice to determine the stops.

Please email me to request a booking slot on rnbjones@btinternet.com

The virtual London Panoramic hop-on-hop-off tour lasts two hours and includes all the major sights from Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London with Westminster Abbey and St Paul's en route.

The Welsh in London Virtual Dragon Ride unearths the presence of Celts in the capital since the last Ice Age!

I also give an illustrated lecture, A Short History of English Music, drawing on my lifelong experience as a music critic.
