Virtual tour: John Heminge and Henry Condell were the last two remaining actors from the company which produced Shakespeare's plays during the 1590s and 1600s. They realised that if they did not collect all the works together and publish them, much would would be lost to posterity and so they produced the first collection of the plays of Shakespeare known as the First Folio in 1623 seven years after the death of Shakespeare. The collection included 18 plays which had never appeared in print before.  It established early on the canon of The Bard's works which quickly became sacrosanct. More than any, Heminge and Condell were responsible for Shakesspeare's lasting fame...
